Blog Marketing Crash Course

Many bloggers get frustrated after a few weeks or months when their blog fails to attract thousands of readers. This is a real shame, because if bloggers follow a few simple steps of blog marketing, they will probably find that the audience ready to read about most of the topics is just dying. So what can a blogger do to get attention? Here are some blog marketing ideas that most blogs should get proper traffic in a short time.

Blog about a place: The world doesn't really need another 'vanity blog' about what you ate for breakfast. Unless you are a supermodel-looking teenage girl who wants to post a lot of pictures on your blog, you will have a hard time taking notice. If you already have a Vanity Blog and you are wondering why you are not getting traffic, then you need to know that the Vanity Blog market is full. Consider starting or changing your blog to another topic - for example an interest or hobby.

Next, you need to start posting on the forums. Include a blog URL in your forum signature (don't spam forums that say "View my blog"). If you engage in conversation naturally, people will be curious and you will find some more readers. If the forum you post on is related to a topic similar to your blog, you will probably find readers again! Try to find the most popular forums in the place you are writing about. To find them, just go to Google and search for 'forum' in addition to your specific keywords and you should find a list. Try searching forums with at least a few thousand active members.

Make sure to do trackbacks and pingbacks on other blogs you've linked to so they can find out about you. When people find out you've talked to them, they'll see what you said. Some of his readers will do the same. Talking about popular stories from popular blogs can get you more than just a few visitors.

Comment as much as you can on other people's blogs (without spamming). In most cases you can put a link back to your blog and people will follow those links. It's also good to target blogs that talk about the same topic as you, because then you will find targeted readers who will continue to read your blog. (Avoid using the "comment spam" program as Google may track it and penalize you).

Most importantly, you need to keep blogging! No one will return to a blog that is updated weekly or only occasionally. You need to add more content at least once a day, especially in the early stages of getting your blog's attention. This is very important.
